Job Description

  • Implements policies/procedures and develops tools for designing, testing, installing, and maintaining electrical equipment or devices.

  • Maintains staffing needs and resolves resource overages and shortfalls by developing staffing plans and projections to support business and program needs.

  • Coordinates projects with other technical teams and vendors to ensure engineering projects are appropriately staffed and milestones are achieved.

  • Conducts performance reviews and evaluates, coaches, and develops engineers/PCB Designers.

  • Develops innovative solutions to engineering problems considering multiple aspects and alternatives.

  • Influences senior management in the development of staffing plans, budgets, and policies which impact the business.

  • Provides value-added perspectives and advisory services that are important to decision-making.

  • Reviews and approves new or revised designs, testing, or procedures.

  • Fosters a safe working culture and ensures a safe working environment for staff.

  • Ensures programs meet cost, schedule, and technical performance goals for Electrical Engineering content.

  • Provides leadership and direction to resolve project execution challenges.

  • Ensures all staff and programs comply with UM US engineering processes, policies, and standards.

  • Provides technical oversight and leadership across multiple projects.

  • Fosters a safe working culture and ensures a safe working environment for staff.

Required Skills

  • Minimum BS Electrical Engineering degree with 9 + years experience within a relevant complex engineering environment.

  • Minimum 1 year leadership experience involving responsibility for technical, financial, and/or personnel resources.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief effectively to peers and senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering projects to meet schedule, budget, and technical goals.

  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio.

  • Standard Engineering Design tools such as Schematic Design (Altium preferred), Simulation, Modeling.

  • Demonstrated experience in Earned Value Management or Cost Account Management, including budget planning, cost performance tracking, variance analysis, and execution of programs in compliance with contractual and financial requirements.

  • Experience with proposal development: RFPs, SOWs, BOEs, and technical volumes.

  • Experience briefing effectively to all levels of the organization up to senior management.
