About the role
NNL Summer Technical Internships offer an immersive professional experience in your field of study. You will work directly with world-class engineers, scientists, researchers, and technicians who provide real-world experience and mentorship. Projects involve state-of-the-art techniques in research and development, software and system design and testing, modeling and data analysis, operations support, and process control development. Interns contribute to deliverables that have a direct impact on the Navy’s nuclear fleet.

Schedule
The NNL Internship is a 10–12 week program starting in May/June 2027.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop new technologies and concepts
- Design and test software, components, or integrated systems
- Develop models and perform data analysis
- Support operations and develop process controls and procedures
Requirements
- Pursuing Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related BS, MS, or PhD from an accredited college or university
- Must have completed at least the first full year of college by May 2027
- Enrolled/continuing in a degree program throughout the internship
- Must attach most recent unofficial college transcripts and resume (including anticipated graduation date) to the employment application
Preferred Skills
- Cumulative minimum GPA 3.0/4.0
- Prior related internship, co-op, or work experience (paid or volunteer)
- Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), or Naval Nuclear Program experience
Pay
Pay range: $25.00/hour – $42.50/hour. Salary is based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
