About the role

This paid Summer 2027 internship spans 10–12 weeks in Greenwood Village, CO. You’ll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while collaborating with experienced engineers and consultants on real project work. The program provides hands-on experience in a mentored environment, supporting design, documentation, coordination, and project delivery within budget and across disciplines to meet client expectations. Work will serve commercial and institutional markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of electrical systems projects according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment and resources.
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebook documentation, and permanent record files.
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Skills

  • Strong interest in design consulting.
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.

Preferred: Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry.

Pay

State of Colorado pay range: $22–24 per hour. The range represents the base pay IMEG reasonably expects to pay for this position in Greenwood Village, CO at the time of posting. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
