Brief Description
The Electrical Engineering Drafter will support the design and development of electrical systems for overhead crane and hoist applications. This role will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create detailed electrical drawings and documentation that support production, installation, and service.
Job Duties
- Design electrical systems for overhead cranes, including power distribution, variable frequency drives (VFDs), controls, collision-avoidance systems, weighing systems, operator pendants, and radio control interfaces
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to develop schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure accurate and practical designs
- Aid in developing and improving manufacturing and assembly processes
- Maintain and update product documentation and databases
- Ensure compliance with CMAA, UL, NEC, CE, and NFPA standards
- Continuously develop technical knowledge through training and professional development
- Complete REDLINE drawings from shop and field as they are submitted to keep our records current and up to date
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education: Associates of Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience in the crane or industrial controls industry may be considered in place of a degree
- Exposure to crane industry
- Familiarity with CMAA standards and specifications
- Understanding of industrial sensing technologies (Laser, Rada, LIDAR, Ultrasonic, Vision systems) is a plus
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams/prints
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of ANSI drafting standards and knowledge of VFD systems and motor controls
- Familiarity with three-phase power systems (Delta/Wye/STAR) and circuit protection
- Ability to interpret and develop relay logic circuits (interlocks, limit switches, control relays, etc.)
- Self-motivated with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
