Students will have opportunities to develop skills in: Industrial electrical systems and power distributionAutomation, instrumentation, and process controlsProject planning and capital project executionElectrical troubleshooting and root cause analysisProcess optimization and continuous improvementTechnical documentation and engineering design supportCross-functional collaboration in a heavy industrial environmentProfessional presentation and communication skills What You'll Do The Electrical Engineering Co-Op supports the Electrical Engineering team by assisting with electrical, automation, instrumentation, and process control projects that improve plant performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. Assist Electrical Engineers with capital projects, including project planning, equipment selection, installation support, and startup activitiesSupport electrical and automation projects by collecting field data, updating documentation, and assisting with project coordination and executionAssist with troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues to improve equipment reliability and plant performanceSupport process control initiatives by monitoring system performance, collecting operational data, and identifying opportunities for improvementAssist with updating electrical drawings, equipment records, and technical documentationCollaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to support plant improvement projectsSupport safety and environmental initiatives that protect employees, equipment, and the environmentDevelop reports, recommendations, and presentations for engineering and plant leadership Required Qualifications Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering disciplineMinimum 2.75 GPAAbility to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookInterest in electrical power systems, automation, instrumentation, PLCs, and process control systemsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsEffective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environmentMust have reliable transportation to and from the worksite to maintain regular attendance Preferred Qualifications Coursework or project experience involving electrical power systems, automation, instrumentation, PLC programming, or process controlsExperience with electrical troubleshooting, circuit design, or industrial control systemsFamiliarity with reading electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentationInterest in manufacturing, mining, heavy industrial operations, or industrial automationExperience analyzing operational or engineering data to support problem solving and decision makingAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment The Fine Print Benefits and perquisites may vary based on the nature and location of each job.
