About the Role

Lead engineer and project manager responsible for researching, planning, and designing electrical and electromechanical products and systems. Direct and coordinate activities involved in building, operation, application, installation, and repair of electrical or electromechanical products and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Design products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and assist with mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Plan and direct engineering personnel in building test control apparatus and equipment, and develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Direct and coordinate building and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to optimize utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Participate in project management for assigned projects.
  • Program systems involving PLCs, robotics, HMIs, CNC, and motion systems.
  • Research and analyze root cause and failure data to help reduce downtime.
  • Compile and analyze historical data to offer suggestions for improving machine reliability and performance.
  • Review the preventive maintenance (PM) system to improve machine performance and reliability.
  • Work with manufacturers and vendors to solve equipment problems.
  • Develop procedures for machine repair processes to standardize rebuilds, repairs, and PMs.
  • Source parts for better prices and reliability.
  • Review parts usage to identify problem areas.
  • Assist with SAP-related issues.
  • Participate in maintenance and repair activities to optimize machine and equipment utilization.
  • Evaluate and provide input on design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Use CAD to create drawings for new or modified mechanical/structural parts, electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Participate in and/or manage projects related to machinery and/or automation.
  • Troubleshoot systems involving PLCs, robotics, HMIs, CNC, and motion systems.
  • Modify electrical hardware designs and assist with daily repairs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC machine controls, robotics, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement techniques, welding, and building techniques.
