Electrical Engineer (Power Distribution)
About the role
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation's only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste. The successful candidate will perform engineering calculations and analysis, provide rigorous written documentation, and effectively interface with various departments.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of engineering discipline
- Provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions
- Interface with various departments including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Project Management, Operations
- Solve equipment malfunctions through technical field leadership support
- Maintain system configuration documentation including system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators
- Perform electrical modification/evaluation of existing systems
- Conduct routine inspections for adherence to applicable building/construction codes/regulations, engineering design change processes, and configuration design control
- Obtain and maintain qualifications on annual training covering commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used to complete the engineering process
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (experience may substitute for education)
- Professional Engineers license is an acceptable alternative to a baccalaureate
- 9 years of related experience
- US Citizenship
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with NFPA 70, National Electric Code
- Familiarity with NFPA70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
- Knowledge of Low Voltage and Lighting in an industrial Process
- One (1) year of nuclear project experience
- Previous WIPP Project Experience
