About the role

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation's only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste. The successful candidate will perform engineering calculations and analysis, provide rigorous written documentation, and effectively interface with various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of engineering discipline
  • Provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions
  • Interface with various departments including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Project Management, Operations
  • Solve equipment malfunctions through technical field leadership support
  • Maintain system configuration documentation including system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators
  • Perform electrical modification/evaluation of existing systems
  • Conduct routine inspections for adherence to applicable building/construction codes/regulations, engineering design change processes, and configuration design control
  • Obtain and maintain qualifications on annual training covering commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used to complete the engineering process

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (experience may substitute for education)
  • Professional Engineers license is an acceptable alternative to a baccalaureate
  • 9 years of related experience
  • US Citizenship

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with NFPA 70, National Electric Code
  • Familiarity with NFPA70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
  • Knowledge of Low Voltage and Lighting in an industrial Process
  • One (1) year of nuclear project experience
  • Previous WIPP Project Experience
