About the role
The Power Distribution Champion role supports Georgia-Pacific's Brunswick Cellulose facility by providing operational expertise, technical reviews, and recommendations to improve power system reliability and minimize unplanned events.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert support of the power distribution system.
- Bring operational expertise and troubleshooting on medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
- Lead or support electrical root cause analysis efforts and equipment/system reliability studies.
- Develop and drive best practice asset strategies for mill electrical equipment/systems.
- Ensure existing electrical asset strategies are improving equipment reliability and performance.
- Provide technical support for maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve reliability issues.
- Develop/Support training programs for maintenance and operations personnel.
- Drive/Assist outage planning teams with developing electrical equipment work scopes and execution plans.
- Develop knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical support for AC/DC drives and motors.
- Provide appropriate design for reliability engineering criteria input to capital projects.
- Ensure organizational effectiveness by advancing PBM® principles and culture.
- Apply relevant electrical safety standards and regulations (NEC, NFPA 70E, 70B).
- Work toward excellence in Environmental, Health, and Safety and compliance.
Requirements
- 7 or more years of Electrical Engineering or hands on relevant experience.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing medium and low voltage electrical power systems.
- Experience with power modeling of a large industrial power system.
- Hands on field experience with medium and voltage systems.
- Experience with designing medium and voltage power systems.
- Experience and knowledge working with medium and low voltage distribution components (i.e., capacitors, reactors, circuit breakers, transformers, load shed systems, VFDs, AC/DC motors, power generation).
- Electrical Reliability Experience.
- National Electrical Code/NFPA 70E application experience.
- Experience providing consultation on complex issues as a Subject Matter Expert.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working within the paper industry.
- In-depth experience and knowledge of SEL Relay Systems, protection relay networking and remote monitoring.
- Experience as a power system owner at an industrial facility.
- EasyPower/ETAP/SKM Software Experience.
- Experience communicating complex technical issues to a varied audience.
