Responsibilities
- Perform engineering studies of power and low-voltage systems to survey existing conditions, evaluate capacities, and recommend corrections or upgrades.
- Design electrical systems ranging from simple to complex, including power, lighting, distribution systems, heat trace, and equipment installation.
- Conduct short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, overcurrent protective device coordination, and review power quality and reliability.
- Design low-voltage systems, including instrumentation and controls, telecommunications, life safety, and security systems.
- Coordinate with engineering team members across disciplines.
- Interface directly with customers for design review meetings and engineering consultations.
- Prepare technical documents such as specifications, sequence of operations, testing documents, and reports.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of basic NEC requirements, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design, and separation of class 1/2/3 wiring.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and a results-oriented mindset.
- Dedication to professional growth and ability to learn new concepts quickly, particularly in engineering and construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with EasyPower and SKM is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
- 7+ years of experience as an independent designer/engineer.
- Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Relevant skills such as AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical system modeling software (e.g., SKM, EasyPower) are beneficial.
