Electrical Engineer (Municipal Water/Wastewater)
Role Accountabilities
As an Electrical Engineer supporting our Resilience Water team, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects. Your work will span the full project lifecycle—from concept development through construction and startup—supporting critical systems such as power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire detection, and control and monitoring systems. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, innovative, and sustainable solutions that enhance system reliability and community resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with process, mechanical, and instrumentation and control (I&C) engineers to develop electrical design criteria, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation.
- Design low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems in alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes.
- Perform power system studies and analyses using tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar software.
- Support project managers with scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage assigned project budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables to ensure quality and timely execution.
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and other project-related travel as needed.
Key Skills & Experience
- Solid foundation in industrial electrical design and power distribution, including experience with motor control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting systems, and equipment layout.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- 5 years of experience supporting water/wastewater projects
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- EIT Certification or PE license
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
