Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) (Entry Level)

As part of the Buildings team for Garver, this Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) will support the assessment of existing facilities and the development of electrical designs in support of various Buildings projects.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, plan, design, and commission existing facilities components and systems
  • Design facility electrical, lighting, telecommunications, security, and fire alarm systems
  • Coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices
  • Assist project managers in the design of projects
  • Follow quality assurance and quality control plans
  • Gain hands-on experience through site visits and occasional travel to project locations
  • Communicate and interact with project team members, building owner representatives, and architectural clients
  • Participate in client relations alongside project managers and senior staff
  • Perform electrical-related calculations with oversight
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel-based calculation tools for design calculations
  • Manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Maintain accountability for personal time management and the quality of assigned work
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date project accounting on all assigned projects
  • Pursue continuing education and learning based on project and team needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an electrical focus from an ABET-accredited university or college
  • Registered Engineer In Training (EIT) or ability to become registered within 6 months of start date
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of building components and systems
  • Proficiency in CAD and BIM design software to assist in producing construction drawings
  • 1 to 2 years of building design and construction industry experience (preferred)
  • Experience completing electrical designs for building projects, including detailed plans and specifications under the guidance of a licensed engineer (preferred)
  • Growing technical competence in building electrical systems including power distribution systems, lighting systems, and telecommunications systems, with a willingness to learn and expand expertise (preferred)
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit (preferred)
  • Worked as an engineer sub-consultant to architectural building design firms (preferred)
