About the role

Electrical Engineer II contract position located in Vandalia, OH. This role serves as an instrumentation specialist responsible for designing and integrating with aircraft systems—mechanical or electrical—to support data collection for FAA/MIL certification requirements. The position also involves maintaining NIST standards for calibration and verification of measurements, documenting and controlling all calibrations, and supporting hardware/software requirements for data acquisition systems and the IADS real-time display.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge products and services.
  • Design and integrate instrumentation with aircraft systems to collect data for FAA/MIL certification.
  • Maintain NIST standards for calibration and verification of measurements.
  • Document and control all calibrations.
  • Support hardware and software requirements for data acquisition systems and IADS real-time display.

Physical, Mental, and Emotional Requirements

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
  • Frequently repeat hand, arm, and finger motions requiring dexterity.
  • Rarely lift or carry up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow).
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Typically 2 or more years of relevant experience.

Skills

Must-haves

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Hands-on experience with aircraft instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with flight testing sensor designs, specifications, and installations, including strain gauges and accelerometers.

Preferred

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard electrical design principles (model-based definition, electrical component selection, manufacturing, and production processes).
  • Familiarity with telemetry systems.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as 1553, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with Curtiss Wright hardware and software (IADS).
