About the role

This position is in DLB’s Mission Critical Department and focuses primarily on hyperscale data centers and related mission critical facilities. The Electrical Engineer II will collaborate with senior design staff to advance their electrical design skills through hands-on application on a wide variety of mission critical projects. This role works closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications, and assist in the construction administration process.

The Electrical Engineer II will receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, exercising discretion and independent judgment on individual tasks. May serve as trade lead on routine projects of limited scope.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Production of Electrical Engineering Documents (50%)
    • Perform intermediate to advanced engineering work as directed
    • Complete intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks under a senior engineer’s supervision
    • Perform intermediate to advanced computations and analysis for electrical systems
    • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids
    • Review and write basic sequence of operations
  • Assist in Pre-Construction Activities (15%)
    • Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings
    • Collect data and other information for construction documents
    • Prepare project design and construction documents
    • Basic editing and writing of project specifications
  • Assist in Construction Activities (25%)
    • Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team
    • Review shop drawings and submittals
    • Review and respond to RFIs
    • Review and complete punch lists and project close out documents
  • Reporting (10%)
    • Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
    • Update and maintain shop drawing and RFI log
    • Manage personal hours using company tools
    • Ensure completion of assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget

    • Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output

    • Adapt to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical systems found in buildings including single/three phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and life safety systems
  • Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
  • Knowledge of technical/design software including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies, equipment sizing and lighting calculations
  • Skilled at producing drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Skilled in performing code analysis including selection of equipment, wiring, etc. to meet code requirements
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to communicate directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET accredited institution, with a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals
  • Minimum of three years of electrical engineering experience

Travel

Approximately 10% travel, which may include any or all 50 US states. Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, business development, errands on behalf of the business, and industry conferences.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $83,000 - $104,125 USD per year (Remote, United States).
