About the role
SLB New Energy & Industrial is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to support the Engineering Lead and Product Engineering Manager. This role will be accountable for the electrical scope and systems in large scale data centers across the design, construction, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
Responsibilities
- Check and approve drawings / designs to ensure they meet Industrial standards.
- Attend and initiate Design and Development Planning and Review Sessions to meet customer's and industry's needs.
- Prepare TRs (Technical Requisitions) for electrical systems, fire systems, and various components.
- Review vendor quotations and provide feedback to procurement team.
- Prepare and complete various electrical engineering deliverables such as electrical load lists, cable schedules, single line diagrams.
- Design and complete earthing protection systems.
- Design and complete lighting studies and systems.
- Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Able and willing to think creatively to find solutions that reduce costs while maintaining quality, cost, or schedule.
- Stay updated with advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies and recommend new technologies to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Represent company with customers during review meetings and act as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, respond to RFIs and address issues that arise.
- Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Professional Engineering License (strongly preferred).
- 3 to 10 years' experience in electrical design and/or electrical engineering, with focus on data center infrastructure.
- Ability to produce drawings/sketches to illustrate design/ideas.
- Direct experience with data center electrical systems, high-density data centers, and hyperscale environments.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including IEC, IBC, OSHA, NEC, NFPA.
- Experience with CAD and BIM software.
- Understanding of UPS, diesel generators, switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and other critical electrical equipment.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and achieving design approval and permitting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, PDF Editor, ETAP, Dialux, Solid Works, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk AutoCAD, Navisworks Manager / Freedom.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable with task switching as priorities change.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Highly organized and able to express complex ideas clearly in written documents.
