About the role
ProSidian seeks an Electrical Engineer (Construction Discipline Engineer – Electrical (Field Engineer)) as an Engagement Team Member located at the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site, owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.
This is a Labor Hour Subcontract or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Position, with ProSidian reserving the right to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian-employed W-2 Position. The role is based at 121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA, providing BOA Support Services for Savannah River Remediation LLC (SRMC) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS). Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) include 2080 Straight Time (ST) and 300 Overtime (OT) estimated annual hours.
Responsibilities
- Plan and provide technical oversight of field construction activities within the electrical discipline, including procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and components.
- Coordinate with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new designs or design changes.
- Conduct field walk-downs and reviews of designs for constructability; resolve design problems encountered during construction.
- Inspect and verify materials, equipment, and construction workmanship for compliance with drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure installation meets requirements.
- Participate in turnover activities and support start-up and functional check-out of equipment and systems.
- Prepare computer-based construction work execution plans (work packages), including job-specific hazards analysis (e.g., Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent).
Design Output Constructability Reviews
- Review design output and vendor documents.
- Conduct field walk-downs with design engineers.
- Verify design constructability, including procedure and code compliance.
- Verify field conditions vs. design output and material availability.
- Submit constructability comments and track resolution.
- Support project team design review meetings.
Field Material Take-Off & Procurement Support
- Develop and expedite bill of materials (BOM).
- Track progress/status of material delivery.
- Coordinate delivery of material to the field.
- Verify received material vs. ordered material.
Work Execution Plan Development
- Conduct walkdowns with craft supervision and support groups.
- Develop installation sequence and work instructions.
- Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with Quality Control.
- Understand layout/survey needs and generate requests.
- Generate hazard analysis for field execution of construction scope.
- Support or lead team hazard analysis review meetings.
- Generate or support job-specific permits, including:
- Lockout/tagout order
- Power services utilization permit
- Hot work
- Asbestos disturbance
- Confined space
- Radiological
- Excavation
- Hazardous waste
Work Execution Plan Review & Approval
- Attend and chair execution plan review meetings.
- Develop routing lists for hazards analysis and work plan approval.
- Coordinate and expedite work package approval, routing, and disposition of comments.
- Assemble approved work execution plan.
- Provide status and updates in the SRS work control passport system.
Work Execution Field Coverage & Support
- Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers.
- Perform task-ready walk-down with craft supervision.
- Verify quantities of installed commodities.
- Coordinate daily field support and expedite/order material as required.
- Coordinate material testing and shop fabrication in support of field execution.
- Perform field inspections and identify/coordinate resolution of field installation issues.
Work Execution Plan Closure
- Generate design completion notices.
- Ensure accuracy of work execution plan status.
- Close all required permits and work execution plan documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience in construction electrical field engineering, or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 5-10 years of practical experience, or High school diploma and 10+ years of practical experience in construction electrical engineering.
- Working knowledge of discipline-specific codes and standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Familiarity with power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and electrical schematics (motors, pumps, distribution centers, etc.).
- Experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system).
- Experience with generating job hazards analysis and performing material take-off and procurement.
- Knowledge of SRS-specific electrical guides and standards is a plus.
- Experience in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable.
- Capable of climbing and spending extended periods in the field.
- Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiological work areas.

Schedule
A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRR Construction utilizes a 10-hour-per-day, four-days-per-week schedule. Standard workweek is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm. Alternate schedules may be employed. Workweek excludes SRR holidays.
