Electrical Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior (GS‑12) or developmental senior (GS‑11) engineer, independently planning and initiating work using professional judgment.
- Develop preliminary and final design and layout of electrical equipment and special electrical communication and electronic features for Civil Works Projects, including multipurpose hydroelectric dams, river navigation structures, fish hatcheries, and fish bypass facilities, using Revit and AutoCAD as CADD tools.
- Check shop drawings and descriptive literature submitted by contractors.
- Perform calculations and computations to verify that contractor‑proposed material and equipment are suitable and adequate for the intended purpose.
- Review and check detailed design, design analysis, plans, and specifications prepared by the Electrical Design Section and Architect‑Engineer (A‑E) contractors for equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Conduct field site inspections of existing equipment, construction in progress, and completed projects; create studies and provide electrical observations regarding operation, condition, and system evaluations.
- Independently design and program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) for industrial control systems.
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or similar advanced modeling tools to develop contract plans and drawings.
- Complete arc‑flash studies for facilities ranging from simple building distribution systems to complex hydroelectric dams, using arc‑flash analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
- Review shop drawings and descriptive literature submitted by contractors for contract and design compliance.
- Prepare correspondence to the Construction Branch detailing actions taken, comments, changes, and additions marked on shop drawings and literature.
