Electrical Engineer
About the role
Leonardo DRS Land Electronics delivers advanced components and mission-critical systems that close capability gaps across military platforms and networks—from embedded electronics and power solutions to field and sustainment-level diagnostic tools. Based in Huntsville, Alabama, our team operates from a newly constructed 131,500-square-foot facility, including a 24,000-square-foot vehicle integration building that supports hands-on work with several of the latest military vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems.
- May include Hardware, Power Engineering, Power Electronic Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components or others.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed.
- Compile and evaluate design and test data.
- Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches.
- Support and participate in technical activity.
- Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems.
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status.
- Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements.
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services.
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed.
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.
- May participate in preparation of less complex proposals.
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Foundational technical knowledge with the ability to apply engineering principles within the assigned domain.
- Knowledge of development tools such as LTSpice, Cadence, OrCAD Schematic Capture and Allegro editor/viewer, AutoCAD, and PTC Creo View desirable.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-810, etc. is a plus.

- Strong technical skills in electronics, power engineering, and related fields.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficiency in computer-aided engineering and design tools.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
