Electrical Engineer

About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Professional Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team and utilize design expertise on complex water and wastewater utility projects. You’ll lead electrical distribution system design primarily for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process treatment structures and buildings. Your role involves generating and reviewing electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and approving vendor submittals to maintain client relationships. You’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on local and remote projects, assist with business opportunities, and contribute to lighting design using AGI32 and Visual software. You’ll also generate project documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of electrical distribution systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Generate and review electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across multiple office locations.
• Assist with internal and external business opportunities.
• Design lighting systems for buildings and infrastructure using AGI32 and Visual software.
• Create project documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to be licensed in multiple states.
• 5+ years of professional design experience in electrical systems, preferably for water projects.
• Low and medium voltage power distribution experience.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA) and industry standards.
• Hands-on knowledge of electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options.
• Experience with AGI32 and BIM/CAD programs (MicroStation, AECOSim, AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong oral and written communication skills for multi-discipline team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Instrumentation and Control system design experience.
• LEED or sustainable design experience.
• Experience with renewable energy systems (wind, solar).
• Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $155,000. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
