About the role

HDR Engineering is seeking an Electrical/Senior Electrical Engineer to join one of the largest, fastest growing, and comprehensive TMT (Tech, Media and Telecom) practices in the industry. This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the electrical design in support of Data Center and other Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger electrical engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design projects from start to finish, coordinating closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members.
  • Develop feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation, and overall construction administration.
  • Mentor and manage a team to create a collaborative environment that promotes career growth, high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and acts as a safety net for each other.
  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project’s development.
  • Organize and facilitate the growth of junior staff, coordinating workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Assume a substantial role in electrical design for data center/mission critical projects, working with clients to understand project-specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, first cost versus life cycle costs, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility.
  • Provide detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Attend and lead electrical discussions in design meetings with other team members.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Provide design support during construction including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, Request for Information (RFI) support.
  • Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong operating knowledge of Revit MEP.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous data center/mission critical experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Preference given to local candidates.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. The targeted salary range (based on experience and location) is $79,734 - $148,077.

Schedule

Full-time, regular employee status.
