Electrical Engineer
About the role
As an Electrical Engineer at HDR, you will play a crucial role in designing the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. Your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and work closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members.
- Develop construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation, and overall construction administration.
- Provide detailed design and coordination of facilities with team members.
- Prepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platforms.
- Edit and prepare design specifications and select equipment, electrical systems, and devices.
- Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales reps.
- Track and meet design budgets.
- Perform load calculations.
- Attend design meetings with other team members.
- Cookordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of the multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project's development.
- Design support during construction, including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, and Request for Information (RFI) support.
- Provide construction administration services throughout all phases of construction.
- Visit Project Sites as requested or as contractually required to monitor construction progress and prepare field observation reports.
- Perform fieldwork and verify existing conditions as required.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is desired.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.
