Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and focus on providing electrical and programming logic expertise.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting programming, electrical and process issues.
  • Develop and maintain equipment drive and motor strategies to reduce production downtime.
  • Collaborate with various teams to install new and rebuilt production electrical systems.
  • Create and modify programming logic systems and code to support and improve the process.
  • Conduct tests to confirm necessary programming and equipment changes.
  • Analyze and modify blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems.
  • Lead and/or monitor the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g. electrical system upgrades, expansions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactory and completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review and development of electrical equipment or systems.
  • Should be involved with making engineering studies, detail design, procurement, installation, acceptance testing and performance audits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.E.) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university, or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of DC and AC drives troubleshooting and setup.
  • In-depth knowledge of PLC and HMI setup and programming.
  • Working knowledge of tuning and calibration of PID loops and controls.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution equipment.
  • Familiarity with DC and AC motors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex process problems.
  • Ability to self-learn new hardware/software platforms.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-level organization.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, computer skills and data analysis skills.
  • The travel requirement is less than 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience installing and or servicing / troubleshooting DC Drive, AC Drives and PLCs.
  • Experience in the finishing portion of the steel manufacturing process.
  • Ability to work in a union environment.
