Summary Of Responsibilities
- Develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and focus on providing electrical and programming logic expertise.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting programming, electrical and process issues.
- Develop and maintain equipment drive and motor strategies to reduce production downtime.
- Collaborate with various teams to install new and rebuilt production electrical systems.
- Create and modify programming logic systems and code to support and improve the process.
- Conduct tests to confirm necessary programming and equipment changes.
- Analyze and modify blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems.
- Lead and/or monitor the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g. electrical system upgrades, expansions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactory and completed in a timely manner.
- Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review and development of electrical equipment or systems.
- Should be involved with making engineering studies, detail design, procurement, installation, acceptance testing and performance audits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.E.) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university, or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.
- In-depth knowledge of DC and AC drives troubleshooting and setup.
- In-depth knowledge of PLC and HMI setup and programming.
- Working knowledge of tuning and calibration of PID loops and controls.
- Working knowledge of power distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with DC and AC motors.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex process problems.
- Ability to self-learn new hardware/software platforms.
- Must be able to work in a multi-level organization.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications, computer skills and data analysis skills.
- The travel requirement is less than 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of engineering experience installing and or servicing / troubleshooting DC Drive, AC Drives and PLCs.
- Experience in the finishing portion of the steel manufacturing process.
- Ability to work in a union environment.
