Electrical Engineer
About the role
Founded in 1975, BR+A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables, FL (Miami); Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Tampa, FL; Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; New Haven, CT; Los Angeles, CA; and Toronto. BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services. BR+A seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer in our Charleston, SC office.
Responsibilities
- Providing Engineering, Design work and drafting of plans
- Implementing approved system concepts from a schematic diagram to floor plans
- Sketching rough layouts to review with Project Engineer or Project Manager
- Reviewing product cut sheets and technical information
- Communicating with Project Manager/Project Engineer regarding potential problems
- Attending meetings as required
- Submitting the required documentation per project deadlines and milestones
- Attending in-house coordination meetings when appropriate
- Developing a strategy to meet the projects’ schedule
- Aiding in the development of engineering systems concepts (M/E)
- Aiding the design team on major design issues
- Organizing required technical correspondence, emails, and calculations
- Performing fieldwork and verification of existing conditions
Requirements
- Strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative
- The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necessary
- Strong working knowledge of Revit
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE License
- 10 - 15 years of related experience
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, design, and spatial requirements
- Strong knowledge of Revit Professional
- Positive attitude, result-driven and team-oriented
- Able to think three-dimensionally
- Capable of visiting job sites to perform fieldwork
- Detail orientated and deadline-driven
