About the role

The Houston office of Arup is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. We are dedicated to sustainability, carbon reduction, and resilience in our projects, which include healthcare, laboratories, data centers, commercial, higher education, aviation, and rail.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of electrical systems for projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, grounding and bonding, and lightning protection.
  • Conduct electrical system calculations such as demand load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and photometric calculations.
  • Cook with multiple disciplines and work in conjunction with project managers to deliver comprehensive and coordinated design deliverables.
  • Support client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials, incorporating sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Present technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in local Professional Associations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, architectural, or building services engineering required.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience designing electrical systems for buildings.
  • Familiarity with applicable local codes and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based work.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and maintain exceptional organization skills.
  • Experience with 3D BIM software such as Revit MEP.
  • Experience with power system calculation software such as SKM or ETAP.
  • Knowledge of lighting design softwares such as AGi32, Dialux etc.

Qualifications

  • EIT certification and working towards their Professional Engineer’s license in Texas preferred.
