Electrical Engineer
About the role
This role offers an opportunity for a highly experienced Electrical Engineering Consultant to provide advanced technical support for military construction and civil works projects. You will independently review, coordinate, and assure the quality of electrical design deliverables within an A/E environment, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project-specific requirements. The position focuses on supporting government-related design review processes and contributing to the successful delivery of complex electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional electrical engineering support across all project phases, contributing to the development, coordination, and quality assurance of electrical design deliverables.
- Perform detailed technical review and analysis of electrical design documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Deliver clear written observations and recommendations to ensure alignment with applicable codes, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and project-specific standards.
- Support government review processes by providing independent technical commentary using platforms such as ProjNet, in close coordination with A/E teams.
- Monitor the status of A/E design deliverables and provide schedule-related insights to help maintain project timelines and milestones.
- Evaluate electrical design packages for technical accuracy, interdisciplinary coordination, and adherence to established electrical design standards.
- Review and validate the resolution of design redlines and comments to confirm compliance prior to key submission milestones.
- Assess compliance of electrical designs with relevant codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and other applicable requirements.
- Develop concise technical summaries, detailed analysis reports, and status updates to support Engineering Division objectives and decision-making.
- Facilitate mentorship and knowledge-sharing sessions for internal A/E teams, focusing on best practices in electrical design, emerging technologies, and current industry trends.
- Contribute professional judgment and technical expertise to improve design processes, enhance quality, and support continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering with a focus on electrical design for building and infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in electrical power distribution design, including 208V, 480V, and primary voltage systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in lightning protection system design.
- Experience designing generator and backup power systems for mission-critical facilities.
- Experience designing fire alarm system in accordance with applicable standards.
- Experience with communications and data (COMM/DATA) system design and coordination.
- Strong knowledge of electrical grounding and bonding design principles and practices.
- Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM platforms, ELUM, and EasyPower.
- In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
- Ability to perform thorough technical reviews, identify issues, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing observations, reports, and technical summaries.
- Ability to work independently in an A/E environment and support government-related design review processes.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 15 years of electrical design experience.

- Experience supporting military construction and civil works projects.
- Experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary A/E teams on complex projects.
- Familiarity with government review platforms such as ProjNet or similar systems.
- Experience mentoring and coaching engineering teams on electrical design practices and emerging technologies.
- Ability to interpret and apply project-specific standards and client requirements to electrical designs.
- Strong organizational skills to track design deliverables, schedules, and review comments.
- Capability to adapt to evolving industry standards and incorporate new technologies into design reviews.
Work Environment
You will work within a professional architectural and engineering (A/E) environment focused on military construction and civil works projects. The role emphasizes independent, office-based technical work, including detailed review of electrical plans, specifications, and calculations. You will regularly use design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM platforms, ELUM, and EasyPower, and will engage with government review systems such as ProjNet or similar platforms. Collaboration occurs primarily with multidisciplinary A/E teams and engineering division staff through structured review processes, written reports, and scheduled coordination meetings. The work environment promotes knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement in electrical design practices, with a strong emphasis on adherence to NEC, UFC, and other applicable standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $74.50/hr.
