About the role

This Electrical Engineer role focuses on the full lifecycle of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and supporting electronics for advanced infrared sensor and camera systems. You will define requirements, design and develop complex analog and digital circuits, oversee manufacturing and testing of circuit cards, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including integrated circuit design, test engineering, software engineering, mechanical design, and systems engineering, while contributing to both research and development and production programs in a rapidly growing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define, decompose, and document electrical and system-level requirements for circuit card assemblies and supporting electronics.
  • Design circuit cards, including component selection, schematic capture, printed circuit board (PCB) layout collaboration, and documentation of design decisions.
  • Plan, execute, and document circuit card assembly (CCA) verification testing, troubleshooting, and debug activities to ensure design performance and reliability.
  • Create design review materials and deliver detailed technical presentations to peers, leadership, and customers.
  • Design, integrate, and test complex analog and digital circuits, including high-speed digital and digital signal processing elements, as required.
  • Verify system-level requirements by integrating CCAs into larger infrared sensor and camera systems and supporting end-to-end performance validation.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret engineering data to support data-driven decision making and conduct design trade studies.
  • Create and review basis of estimates (BOEs) to support project planning, cost estimation, and schedule development.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as mechanical, software, systems, and test engineering to ensure seamless integration of circuit cards into complete systems.
  • Perform integration and test activities for EO/IR camera and high-speed video systems, including lab setup, instrumentation usage, and test execution.
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, and related debug tools to validate and troubleshoot designs.
  • Execute assigned tasks on schedule, proactively communicate status, and escalate issues that may impact delivery or performance.
  • Perform a wide variety of engineering tasks to gain familiarity with organizational methods, programs, and practices.
  • Support, communicate, and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization in daily work.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, documentation standards, and verification methods.
  • Collaborate with sr. engineers and mentors while progressively taking ownership of more complex design and test responsibilities over time.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Internship or co-op experience in electrical or electronics design, or 1+ years of professional electrical engineering experience (open from entry level up to approximately EE level 3).
  • Foundational experience with circuit card design, including exposure to analog or digital hardware design at the board level.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and file browsing tools.
  • Ability to work with schematic capture tools such as Cadence, Mentor, Altium, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to perform integration and test (validation and verification) activities for circuit card assemblies in new products.
  • Familiarity with lab test and debug equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
  • Strong documentation, data analysis, and technical communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present technical material.
  • Diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn, with a detail-oriented and self-driven approach.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships across disciplines.
  • Mature, professional, positive mindset with a strong "can-do" attitude.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Additional Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience designing circuit card assemblies for camera support electronics, sensor systems, or related applications.
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro or similar platforms.
  • Experience with integration and test of high-speed digital designs and digital signal processing circuits.
  • EO/IR sensor or video camera development experience is highly preferred.
  • High-speed video digital design experience is preferred.
  • Firmware and softcore processor design experience, including VHDL or similar, is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC considerations, packaging constraints, and integrating boards into higher-level assemblies.
  • Experience in research and development environments with hands-on analog or digital design work.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated or classified environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex designs in a timely manner and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for electronics and hardware design, including personal or hobby projects beyond academic coursework.
  • Comfort working across system-level and board-level design, including collaboration with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
