Electrical Engineer 3 - Nuclear
About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering through a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities. You will team up with other engineers and designers involved in nuclear plant electrical systems betterment and associated modifications.
Responsibilities
- Electrical systems design
- Preparation of complex calculations, including:
- Load flow and short circuit
- Power flow
- System impact
- Cable ampacity
- Preparation of documented design inputs
- Preparation of equipment and material specifications
- Preparation of design reports
- Power distribution designs and preparation of specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
- Solve engineering problems using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Use of automation for calculations, summarizing technical documents, or drafting design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools with strong engineering judgment
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
Requirements
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program (required)
- 3+ years of experience in the design of electrical power systems in a project team environment, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new plants or modifications/replacements for existing plants
- Experience should include:
- Selection of equipment, materials, and control philosophy
- Preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
- Experience with electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations
- Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role
- Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and individually
- Detail-oriented approach to work
Qualifications
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- PE license
- MSEE
- Construction and start-up experience
- Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel)
- Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields

Pay
Compensation range: $74,353 - $113,595. The total compensation package includes a base salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Individuals may also be eligible to participate in our yearly discretionary bonus.
