Electrical Engineer 3 - Nuclear
About the role
Under the direction of the electrical engineering lead or project manager, you will work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing power plant electrical systems. You will tackle challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues. Assist the electrical engineering lead or project manager in ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review detailed calculations, including three-phase AC and DC power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, and protective relay settings.
- Prepare engineering documentation for design input for drawing production.
- Prepare and review engineering reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely while meeting client requirements and S&L formats.
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation.
- Develop project work plans.
- Serve as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
- Solve engineering problems using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
- Use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.
- Apply programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program (required).
- 3 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new plants or modifications/replacements for existing plants. Experience should include equipment selection, materials, control philosophy, and preparation of calculations and specifications.
- Experience with electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
Qualifications
- PE license (valued but not required).
- MSEE (valued but not required).
- Construction and start-up experience (a plus).
- Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields (valued but not required).

Pay
Compensation range: $74,353 – $113,595. The total compensation package includes a base salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Individuals may also be eligible to participate in the yearly discretionary bonus.
