About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will provide electrical engineering support throughout all project phases, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to sustainable design initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support throughout all project phases, from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
  • Perform portions of broader engineering assignments under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Gather, analyze, and correlate engineering data using established methods and procedures.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and visual presentation materials.
  • Develop electrical system designs and construction documents for power, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Support the review of shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field issues during the construction administration phase.
  • Conduct site visits to collect data and evaluate existing electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Develop designs within a BIM environment using Revit and other design software.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project objectives.
  • Cook up with multidisciplinary project teams to support project scope, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, studies, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and designers to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based project delivery.
  • Experience performing power system studies using SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Experience with lighting calculations using Visual, AGi32, or ElumTools.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire for professional growth and mentorship.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 per year.
