About the role
The qualified candidate will provide engineering services to SRP in a technically sound, safe, timely and cost effective manner to enable SRP to realize its goals and objectives for providing water and energy related services.
Responsibilities
- Organizing and producing engineering drawings for installation and commissioning of new and existing designs that consists of physical layouts (General Arrangements, Grounding, Conduits and Control House) to electro-mechanical and microprocessor type protection relay systems in high voltage substations.
- Leading and supporting design teams involved with conceptual, preliminary, and final design of station projects ranging from 48V DC through 500 kV platforms.
- Producing, reviewing, and mentoring Physical designs and Electrical designs (including but not limited to) one-line, three-line, schematic and wiring diagrams for high voltage substation projects.
- Performing engineering design work and engineering studies.
- Performing as engineering project leader.
- Preparing specifications and evaluating bids.
- Preparing recommendation material for management consideration.
- Administering and reviewing work performed by consultants and others.
- Preparing and/or conducting written and oral reports and presentations.
- Performing field engineering work.
- Performing engineering analyses.
- Designing and/or coding computer programs.
Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience actively engaged in engineering practice.
- Demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.
- Responsible for project budgets and schedules.
- Occasional contacts with customers and outside agencies.
- Contact with suppliers of equipment and services.
- Ability to work effectively with various organizational groups within SRP.
- Ability to use engineering tools required for the job (i.e., computer, test equipment, etc.).
