About the role

The Electrical Designer will design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, UPS, renewable energy systems, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems/coordination (IT, safety, security, access control) for bidding and construction across various projects. This role involves working with a team of engineers to design energy-efficient buildings and participating in all project phases. The position is located onsite in our Charlotte office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, read, and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Interact with owners, clients, architects, and contractors through verbal and written communication.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to meet project deadlines.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to research, design, and evaluate products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements.
  • Design and specify system components to ensure conformance with project goals and requirements.
  • Research and analyze client design requirements, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs.
  • Review contractor submittals (e.g., shop drawings) to determine conformance with contract documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience with MEP design.
  • FE registration preferred; potential for PE licensure.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
