Electrical Design Engineer

P2S is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to support our San Diego, CA location. Responsibilities
- Pre-Design Engineering: Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports.
- Design Engineering: Design power single line and riser diagrams, perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKMLighting fixtures and power equipment selection, design and coordinate the lighting control system, prepare fire alarm device layout based on International Fire Code and NFPA 72, design fire alarm riser diagrams, calculations, and sequence of operations, prepare enlarged plans, elevations, schedules, and details.
- Coordination: Understand and utilize CAD/BIM standards, have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code and Energy Standards to design medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems, coordinate among different disciplines, such as mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural.
- Construction Administration: Review and respond to RFI’s, review equipment submittals, perform punch walks and prepare punch list report.
- Support Electrical Design Projects: Focus on lighting systems, collaborate with project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions, assist with lighting circuiting and lighting controls design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical design (required).
- Experience with lighting design preferred (preferred).
- Familiarity with Title 24 compliance is a plus (preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required).
- AGi software experience is a plus (preferred).
- EIT license is a plus (preferred).
- Association with IES/IEEE is a plus (preferred).
