About the role
We are seeking a Department Manager Electrical and Instrumentation to report directly to the Head of Engineering Houston OC and join our Electrical team based in Houston, Texas, USA. This role directly supervises the Houston OC electrical department and involves key interactions with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, other Department Managers, other OCs, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Plan and allocate resources across projects to ensure optimal utilization.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop electrical engineering talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations and career development planning.
- Promote a culture of technical excellence, safety, and collaboration.
- Serve as the technical authority for electrical engineering within the organization.
- Ensure electrical designs on projects comply with applicable codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and client specifications.
- Develop and maintain departmental design standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to financial budgets and staff utilization targets.
- Coordinate with other departments to optimize the priorities of Technip Energies and project interests.
- Provide input to proposals and pre-qualifications.
- Ensure project deliverables meet local and federal government requirements for professional engineer’s sealing and stamping when applicable.
- Support, initiate, implement, and meet the targets of the organization’s ESG scorecard and Digital Initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 20 years of experience in engineering, including as lead discipline or discipline department manager in an EPC organization.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in TX and LA or ability to obtain license in LA within 4 months of joining.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial power distribution systems.
- Medium and low voltage systems.
- Motor control centers (MCCs).
- Substations and transformers.
- Electrical protection and coordination.
- Hazardous area classification.
- Grounding and lightning protection.
- Power system studies.
- Knowledge of HV systems and Construction experience is a strong plus.
- Excellent management and leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in professional English.
