Electrical & Controls Design Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage outside design consultants (cost, schedule, design standards)
• Review new line and facility documentation: one-line diagrams, network architecture, control panel design, device layouts, sequence of operation, scopes of work.
• Manage electrical design firm qualification, selection, and hiring (RFP process)
• Manage electrical contractor qualification and hiring
• Drive continuous cost and quality improvements in system designs and maintain up-to-date knowledge of leading-edge technologies that will support business needs
• Maintain electrical and controls specifications
• Negotiate purchase of electrical equipment (Switchgear, PDP’s, PLC controls)
• Assist project management with design solutions for field issues

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Requires strong Technical, Managerial, and Leadership ability with exceptional facilitation and communication skills
• 5 - 10 years’ experience implementing projects in a similar environment
• Highly motivated, well organized, goal oriented and capable of operating alone, with minimal direct supervision
• This position requires excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
• Must be a team player and have strong abilities to lead and participate in project teams and be able to demonstrate capability in managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Must be proficient in the use of common software platforms including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint) and AutoCAD for the preparation of presentation and working documents
• Working knowledge / development experience of Allen Bradley PLC code and Device-Net programming
• Working knowledge / development experience of SCADA programming (GE Fanuc / Intellution and/or Wonderware)
• Working knowledge of networks
