About the role

This position is with the Electrical Engineering department of Haas Automation. The role supports engineering by ensuring components are reliable and effective, finding alternate sources, and tracking component qualifications. Responsibilities include strategic sourcing and establishing standards for components with development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Review BOM’s for obsolescence.
  • Support design teams in the selection of electronic components.
  • Drive qualifications of EOL/Obsolete component solutions.
  • Investigate and promote alternative solutions.
  • Facilitate communication and interactions between suppliers and design teams.
  • Conduct failure analysis/corrective action with suppliers.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving manufacturing problems.
  • Manage approved vendor list.
  • Manage/create standard processes where needed.
  • Conduct part lifecycle analysis.
  • Flag inaccurate component specification data and correct it.
  • Analyze component failure trends.
  • Follow instructions, procedures, and escalate issues impacting workflow or quality.
  • Exhibit honesty, integrity, and adherence to rules, procedures, and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS/BFA/BSA) from a four-year college or university is required, with additional related experience, training, or equivalent combination.
  • Preferred major: Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience.
  • Understand basic operation concepts of electrical components.
  • Ability to compare physical and operational differences between parts.
  • Experience with obsolescence tracking and avoidance using software-based tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, or employees.
  • Mathematical skills to perform calculations involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

  • Manage part qualification efforts, including defining test methods, reporting, and tracking.
  • Experience working with external vendors, communicating specifications, and finding alternate solutions.
  • Track work progress and report on status.
