About the role

The Electrical/Components Engineer is responsible for components management activities of electronics-based projects for aerospace and defense markets. This role involves understanding component applications in analog and digital circuits, power electronics, high-speed digital interfaces, FPGAs, and DSPs, as well as assessing thermal, vibration, radiation, and electromagnetic stress effects on these devices.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical/electronic design activities, including component selection based on performance, materials, construction, availability, and cost.
  • Perform Obsolescence Management activities, providing alternate part recommendations to staff engineers.
  • Interface with part and component manufacturers to verify OEM part numbers, qualified manufacturers, part availability, alternate sources, National Stock Numbers (NSNs), Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items, and other components.
  • Develop and maintain Kearfott electronic component databases.
  • Analyze component manufacturer data sheets to determine suitability for Kearfott product applications.
  • Perform reliability analysis and application stress assessment using tools such as ANSYS, Matlab, and other CAE tools.
  • Apply relevant internal, industry, and government standards.
  • Support product improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Assist in design and analysis using Altium®, OrCad®, HyperLynx®, Pspice®, LTSpice®, and similar tools.
  • Generate requirements, specifications, and verification/validation procedures for electronic assemblies.
  • Collaborate as a member of cross-functional project teams, including mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians.
  • Support production, manufacturing, repair, and product improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aerospace and/or defense engineering; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience with SiliconExpert is required.
  • Proficiency in file management platforms, including SVN (file version control), SharePoint (file sharing), and cloud-based interfaces.
  • Ability to apply formal enterprise document release and revision control processes.
  • Strong presentation skills for design reviews, marketing presentations, and cross-disciplinary communication.
  • Leadership ability in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Customer-centric attitude with a drive for results.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Adobe® (PDF) software.
  • New product development experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $100,000 - $150,000 annually. Final offer may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal consistency.
