Electrical Commissioning Engineer, Capacity Delivery

About the role

The Commissioning Team at Fluidstack is responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems are commissioned and tested to meet the highest standards. This role involves overseeing the entire electrical distribution chain from the utility interface to the racks, including switchgear, UPS, generators, and EPMS.

Responsibilities

• Write and run test scripts covering protection, transfer schemes, and failure scenarios at full load.
• Oversee NETA testing and vendor startups, verifying results rather than filing them.
• Run integrated systems tests proving the site rides through utility events the way the design says it will.
• Commission electrical systems on mission-critical facilities through pull-the-plug testing.
• Read one-lines, protection studies, and coordination curves, and catch errors in them.
• Run load bank testing at megawatt scale.
• Hold vendors to test standards under schedule pressure.
• Bonus: Experience with MV and HV systems, EPMS platforms, protective relay testing, and a PE license.

Requirements

You have extensive experience commissioning electrical systems on mission-critical facilities through pull-the-plug testing. You have a strong background in reading one-lines, protection studies, and coordination curves, and you are adept at catching errors in these documents. You have experience running load bank testing at megawatt scale and have successfully overseen NETA testing and vendor startups. You are able to verify results rather than just file them, and you are skilled at running integrated systems tests to prove the site can handle utility events as designed.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have a deep understanding of electrical systems and a passion for ensuring that they are commissioned correctly. You should be comfortable working under tight deadlines and be able to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.

Skills

You should be proficient in reading one-lines, protection studies, and coordination curves, and be able to identify and correct errors in these documents.
