About the role

As an Electrical Build Technician at Impulse, you will fabricate, assemble, wire, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems used in spacecraft testing and ground-support equipment. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to build reliable test assets, improve electrical assembly processes, and support equipment commissioning and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, wire, and maintain electrical test equipment, control panels, test carts, racks, and ground-support systems
  • Build electrical assemblies from schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and work instructions
  • Install and terminate power, control, instrumentation, communication, and data-acquisition wiring
  • Assemble electrical enclosures, DIN-rail components, power supplies, circuit protection, relays, terminal blocks, and industrial control hardware
  • Perform continuity checks, insulation checks, point-to-point verification, functional testing, and equipment checkout
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, networking, and control-system issues
  • Support calibration and maintenance activities for automated test equipment
  • Document as-built conditions, wiring changes, test results, and equipment configuration
  • Work with engineers, designers, software teams, and other technicians to improve equipment reliability, manufacturability, and build throughput
  • Provide training and guidance to other technicians on electrical assembly and checkout processes

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of professional experience building, wiring, maintaining, or troubleshooting industrial, aerospace, manufacturing, or test equipment
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and bills of materials
  • Experience with wire preparation, crimping, soldering, connector assembly, labeling, cable routing, and harness fabrication
  • Experience safely working with AC and DC power systems, instrumentation, sensors, and data-acquisition equipment
  • Proficiency using electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and continuity testers
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems methodically and implement practical, reliable repairs
  • Proficiency with basic mechanical fabrication and assembly tools

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience building industrial control panels, aerospace ground-support equipment, automated test systems, or similar electrical equipment
  • Experience assembling equipment to electrical schematics and engineering standards
  • Experience with PLCs, industrial I/O, relays, motor controls, power distribution, and safety circuits
  • Experience with National Instruments, Beckhoff, IFM, or similar industrial and test hardware
  • Experience with Ethernet networks, industrial communication protocols, and instrument integration
  • Experience building and modifying electrical enclosures, equipment racks, and mobile test carts
  • Familiarity with EPLAN, Teamcenter, or other electrical design and product-lifecycle-management tools
  • Knowledge of electrical workmanship standards, wire identification practices, and configuration control
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within established procedures

Pay

$38.00 - $50.00 / hour

Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
