Responsibilities

  • Generates construction and fabrication drawings using CADD equipment and peripherals for a variety of large complex commercial and industrial projects.
  • Reviews construction drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and structural contract documents and ensures compliance with local code requirements.
  • Works closely with project management team to resolve issues identified during reviews through the Request For Information (RFI) process.
  • Coincides draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist.
  • Partners with project Superintendents and Project managers to complete tasks as assigned and needed.
  • Attends coordination meetings at jobsite and/or offices.
  • Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the conceptual and design drawing effort.
  • Reviews submittal documents for accuracy.
  • Maintains logs as needed for RFIs, transmittals, and drawings.
  • Identifies and resolves issues with clients, architects, engineers, building owners, and vendors related to construction drawings and drawings of record.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years trade experience in field installation with a solid skill level.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam.
  • Strong computer skills and aptitude for learning.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Detail oriented, able to recognize errors quickly.
  • Good organizational skills, multi-tasker.
  • Communicate with Superintendent, vendors, and customers effectively.
  • Working knowledge of electrical parts and their intended use.
  • Working knowledge of general construction.
  • Working knowledge of safety procedures and firm believer in safety.
  • General problem solving ability.

Physical Demands

  • Requires mobility within an office environment.
  • Regularly required to talk and effectively communicate with others both written and orally, including using the telephone.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The employee is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; bend.
  • May be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Requires long periods of standing, walking, typing, carrying, and climbing ladders/scaolding.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee may be required to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night or weekend shifts, as needed.

Work Environment

  • May work inside or outside, with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • This role also uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  • May be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, weather elements, dust, restricted or confined spaces, and slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
