Electrical Apprentice I
Position Summary
Learn on-the-job under the supervision of a qualified electrical professional. Apprentices will learn, practice, and become proficient in the core electrical skills that provide an essential foundation for safe, productive, and quality work across the electrical industry. These include but are not limited to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
Responsibilities
- Installation of Raceway Systems to meet project production standards
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit; weld supports; install cable and duct banks
- May be required to pull wire through conduit; connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment
- Attend and complete all required classroom/ instructor-led training, pass all required testing and examinations, and show proficiency in all skill-based performance profiles
- Completion and daily record keeping of all on-the-job training (OJT) hours required to complete apprenticeship
- Demonstrate safety as a top priority
- Look for ways to improve safety, quality, and productivity
- Install systems in a neat and workman like manner
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Never walk by an unsafe act
- Attend all training available onsite to understand new tools, equipment, and work procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License
- At least 6-months of trade-related experience (2-4 years preferred)
- Experience and proficiency in identifying and using basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:
- Able to perform tasks as directed by a Journeyman, Qualified Electrical Professional, and/ or Supervisor
- Ability to demonstrate basic industrial safety practices / protocols including lock out/tagout (LOTO)
- Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory
- Ability to understand and apply college algebra level mathematics
- Must be able to read and write at a high school graduate level
- Basic ability to read one-line drawings
- Understanding of basic electrical systems (low and high voltage)
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to travel and work away from home base area for the entire duration of the apprenticeship program
Working Environment
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
- Exposed to energized electrical parts and equipment at varying voltages
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
