Responsibilities
- Works under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician and must be able to demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
- Affords assistance with materials handling, installation of materials, devices and equipment.
- Specific tasks include: Identify and eliminate hazardous conditions at the job site, Maintain the job site in a safe, neat and orderly condition, Handle and stage materials, equipment and tools, Assist with layout, wire pulls and installation, May be required to operate heavy equipment, Assist with cable tray installations, device installations, and lighting connections.
- Receives On-the-job learning (OJL) as part of the apprenticeship program.
- Attends class & make satisfactory progress with apprenticeship program completion.
- Safely operates hand and power tools.
- Possesses the ability to read and interpret instructions, maps, & manuals.
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity.
- Legally operate company vehicles and equipment.
Requirements
- Enroll in a 4-year Department of Labor (DOL) Registered Apprenticeship Program.
- Some travel will be required.
Qualifications
- Essential skills and abilities include: Positive safety attitude and personal integrity, Ability to read and interpret instructions, maps, & manuals, Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, Ability to work in all elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.), Ability to keep work tools with them at all times (work belt, bag, etc.), Ability to use all types of ladders including step ladders up to 14’ feet, “A” Frame and all size extension ladders and relocate a 12’ ladder by one’s self, Ability to perform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and cat walks, Ability to work in restricted areas, Ability to wear protective personal equipment (PPE).
