Electrical Apprentice
About the role
The Apprentice Electrician, under the direction of the Licensed Electrician, is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial electrical equipment and systems. This position will be responsible for following the directions of the Journeyman Electrician to complete electrical maintenance and repair work.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Electrician with basic tasks.
- Complete Maintenance work orders on electrical equipment. Testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment and replacing defective parts.
- Collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Up-dates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of electrical apprenticeship preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes.
- Possessing the ability to understand schematics and technical manuals
Qualifications
- Must be willing to embrace the company’s core values.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Outside most of the time.
- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Limited working surfaces.
- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability are required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
