About The Role

Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 (half after 30 days, half after 90 days).

As an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, you will work safely to maintain, diagnose, and repair various types of power plant equipment. This includes maintenance related to boilers and associated electrical and control equipment, repair and operation of field controllers, instrumentation, motor control centers, and other power plant electrical equipment ranging from 120V to 13.8kV, as well as AC switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and testing of low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
• Perform maintenance of higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine-driven generators.
• Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste boilers and associated equipment, including pumps, fans, motors, conveyors, and refuse cranes.
• Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste air pollution control systems.
• Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and repair the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) as well as all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation (e.g., transmitters, flow devices, level controls, temperature measurement, and flue gas analysis equipment).
• Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and repair Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including routine calibration, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
• Operate various calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repair work using proper safety practices.
• Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and complete all maintenance work records.
• Actively participate in plant shutdown work, including teardown inspection of electrical plant equipment.
• Maintain work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner, and perform plant and shop housekeeping chores.
• Complete required safety, compliance, and other training/certification within assigned timelines.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the E&I management team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with motor starters, PLCs, and high-power systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal technical, military, or apprentice training.

Schedule

During training (4-8 weeks), the schedule will be Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. After training, this position will be an 8- or 10-hour day shift. There is a rotating on-call schedule, and additional hours may be scheduled during planned or unplanned outages, with the possibility of night support. This schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

Physical Demands

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
• Consistently work in various weather conditions.

Pay

The pay range for this role in the primary posting location is $33.22–$44.18 USD per hour. The final salary offered will be determined based on factors including experience, education, geographic location, skills, competencies, travel requirements, and/or union contracts (if applicable).
