About the role

This supervisory position oversees the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electric distribution system, including overhead and underground power lines, substations, transformers, breakers, and related electrical infrastructure. The Electric Superintendent supervises electric line crews, coordinates daily operations and preventative maintenance programs, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and responds to outages and emergency situations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of electric distribution systems (overhead and underground power lines, substations, transformers, breakers, and related infrastructure)
• Supervise electric line crews
• Coordinate daily operations and preventative maintenance programs
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Respond to outages and emergency situations

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, substations, transformers, and power line operations
• Ability to lead and supervise personnel safely and efficiently
• Proficiency in pole top, bucket, and vault rescue procedures
• Capability to operate heavy equipment associated with electric utility work
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Texas Class B CDL or higher
• Certification in overhead power distribution and maintenance preferred
• Experience in electric utility operations and supervision preferred

Working Conditions

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Perform physically demanding tasks in and around energized electrical systems
• Rotational on-call duty and emergency response required
