ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER

Duties

• Monitor and control wind turbines from the plant using controller software.
• Analyze equipment malfunctions by visual and auditory inspection or by means of test equipment.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair and install generators, motors and exciters.
• Take command of all emergency situations and direct actions taken both in the power plant and response teams in the field.

Qualifications

• Show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
• The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of Electric Power Controller without more than normal supervision performing duties such as:
  • Operating various electrical power generating equipment (i.e., alternators, DC generators and control circuits, voltage controls, battery backup system, switchgear, and transformers).
  • Aid with operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and gasoline engines ranging from 3 cylinders to 16 cylinders per engine ranging from 40 H.P. to 1300 H.P.
  • Aid with installing, testing, repairing and maintaining generators, transformers, converters, motors and associated equipment (i.e., circuit breakers, indicating and recording instruments, power and control cables and relays).
  • Utilizing trade mathematics to calculate the amount of resistive and reactive loads, and phase relations of loads to identify unbalanced low efficiency loads, circulating current, or undesirable conditions.
