Electric Motor Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize electric motors using simulation tools (FEA/CFD).
• Perform reverse engineering, including teardown, dimensional analysis, material identification, winding analysis, and magnetic circuit evaluation.
• Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Develop performance specifications and validation test plans, conducting tests to evaluate efficiency, torque, speed, thermal, vibration, and noise.
• Work closely with manufacturing for design for manufacturability, support prototyping, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Evaluate competitor products, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Lead programs through production launch, including supplier selection and qualification.
• Develop validation methodologies to correlate simulations with physical tests.

Qualifications

• Include Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in electric motor design, including successful platform development or redesign and launch into production.
• Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory, motor design principles, and simulation tools.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor).
• Hands-on experience with motor teardown and reverse engineering.
• Understanding of winding techniques, lamination stacks, magnets, insulation systems, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret and produce detailed engineering drawings.
