About the role

As an Electric Meter Service Technician, you will read, shut off, and turn on electric meters. You will also write up notices to communicate with customers regarding potential service shut-offs and learn to use the computer system to plan and complete daily work. This role offers an opportunity to start a career in the Electric, Gas, and Water Utility industry.

Grid One Solutions, headquartered in Media, Pennsylvania, operates deployment facilities across the United States and parts of Canada. As part of Asplundh Infrastructure Group, a subsidiary of Asplundh, we provide outsourced field services to utilities and municipalities.

Responsibilities

• Perform change-out of existing electric utility meters and deliver notices as required.
• Assume responsibility for the safe operation of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.
• Commit to customer service and respond to the needs of internal and external customers professionally.

Requirements

• Computer and smartphone literate.
• Ability to read maps and navigate in congested areas.
• Independently manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
• Mechanically inclined with experience using a variety of tools.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• 1+ years of previous work-related driving experience.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Mechanical and/or electric experience preferred.

Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.

Physical Requirements

• Rare (less than 10%): squatting, depth-perception, color-vision, crawling, pushing, pulling, seeing distant, climbing ladders, balancing, gripping.
• Occasional (up to 33%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, sense-of-touch, manual-dexterity, lifting to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs., lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., climbing stairs, carrying, lifting, range-of-motion, reaching.
• Frequent (up to 66%): standing, walking, sitting.
• Continuous (up to 100%): seeing, reading, hearing-speech-range, speaking clearly.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry, employees must:

• Have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordinate equipment/tools.
• Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods.
• Withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments.
• Wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
• Enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
• Have the endurance to traverse various terrain.
• Perform job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day.
• Communicate effectively, read, write, and comprehend job instructions.
• Handle conflict professionally.

Pay

$25.00 - $31.00 per hour

Schedule

This is a minimum 40-hour workweek, with Saturdays considered inclement weather make-up days.
