Responsibilities
- Drive (75% of the day) to job sites.
- Enter residential and commercial properties to access electric meters and perform required work.
- Set, change, or disconnect electric meters, as well as conduct meter readings and investigations.
- Work with energized electric equipment to resolve meter issues for Xcel.
- Provide customer service with humility and a commitment to the communities we serve.
- Maintain pride in workmanship and deliver high-quality results.
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
- Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, and perform tasks requiring walking, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Sufficient English usage to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
- Must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and a pre-employment drug screen.
Qualifications
- Two (2+) plus years of customer service experience.
- One (2+) plus years of experience working with electricity and on ladders preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
