About the role
Hennepin County Public Health Clinic's Red Door has an opening for a Family, Adult or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities
- Take patient history including chief complaint, presenting illness and past medical history
- Perform a physical exam, order and perform lab tests and diagnose the patient's illness
- Develop, implement and evaluate patient care plans using clinical data
- Identify and educate patients and peers on relevant topics such as STD's, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, etc.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas that effect the clinic, assist in identifying problems that impede the overall function of the clinic and in formulate an appropriate intervention
Requirements
- A Master's Degree in Nursing
- Licensure by the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse
- Certification as a Family, Adult or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
- At least two years of full time experience within the last five years in one of the following: Family, Adult or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Registered nurse in OB/GYN, internal medicine or infectious disease
- Experience performing STD/HIV evaluation, treatment, referral and risk reduction counseling
- Experience providing information to patients regarding pregnancy prevention methods
- Experience working with patients from culturally diverse backgrounds
Qualifications
- Experience in providing pregnancy prevention methods and risk reduction counseling to patients
- Experience in HIV testing and counseling
- Experience in providing STD/HIV evaluation, treatment, referral and risk reduction counseling
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of public health policies and procedures
