Job Summary
The English Language Arts Teacher at Holy Redeemer Catholic School is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and language development while fostering a faith-centered learning environment. This role supports the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth of students and integrates Catholic values into daily instruction and classroom practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned ELA instruction, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into literacy instruction and classroom culture.
- Create and maintain a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student growth and accountability.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
- Promote critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills through varied instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Collaborate with faculty, support staff, and administration to support student achievement and school initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgical celebrations, and school community events.
- Adhere to all school policies, diocesan guidelines, and professional standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility (preferred).
- Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission of Holy Redeemer Catholic School.
- Strong classroom management, instructional, and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
