About the role
Provides students with appropriate learning, activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Manages multiple courses each class period, ensures students perform at optimum level, and encourages a therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans with necessary accommodations that meet district curriculum requirements based on TEKS and LPAC requirements for multiple grades and subjects.
- Maintain accurate student grades, work, and documentation related to special populations.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in English or Education.
- Valid Texas Teaching certification in English and ESL issued by the Texas State Board of Education.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and liability insurance coverage meeting or exceeding state minimums.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screening, and tuberculosis skin test.
- Ability to work with challenging youth, employing crisis intervention and de‑escalation strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect diverse learning styles and student needs.
- Knowledge of and ability to conduct LPAC meetings.
Pay
Salary range: $55,937.95 – $77,539.44 annually, based on qualifications (26 pay periods).
Schedule
Grant‑funded full‑time position, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during school hours.
